A Clash of Kings ÔÇö Jon IV
The Watch camps on the Fist of the First Men; under the ashes Ghost noses out an old cloak wrapped around dragonglass.
The chapter retold
The WatchÔÇÖs great ranging finally reaches the Fist of the First Men, an ancient ringfort where Mormont decides to make camp and take stock. Under a pile of ashes, Ghost noses out something that makes SamÔÇÖs blood run cold ÔÇö an old cloak wrapped carefully around a stash of dragonglass daggers, hidden by hands unknown for a purpose everyone can guess at.
ItÔÇÖs a small, quiet discovery that lands like a thunderclap once its implications sink in: someone, at some point, thought it worth hiding weapons specifically effective against the Others out here in the middle of nowhere. The Fist itself, ancient and defensible, becomes the rangingÔÇÖs forward base ÔÇö a decision that will look wiser and then far more dangerous as the bookÔÇÖs northern plot builds toward its climax.
