The chapter retold

While the wedding hall is still screaming over Joffrey's body, Ser Dontos Hollard finally reveals what his devotion to Sansa Stark was actually building toward: he spirits her out of the castle in the confusion, down to a small boat waiting in the fog, promising rescue in the overwrought, chivalric language he has used with her since the tourney where she saved his life.

The rescue is real, but Dontos's role in it ends the moment it is no longer needed ÔÇö Petyr Baelish is waiting on the water, and he pays the fool his promised reward with three crossbow bolts rather than gold, silencing the one loose thread who could connect Sansa's poisoned hairnet and her disappearance back to him. Sansa escapes King's Landing at last, but trades one kind of captivity for another, now entirely in Littlefinger's hands and one accomplice poorer for it.
