House Bar Emmon holds Sharp Point, the promontory that guards the seaward approach to the Blackwater Rush, which gives a small house an outsized strategic weight ÔÇö whoever holds Sharp Point watches every ship bound for King's Landing. They are sworn to Dragonstone rather than directly to the throne.

In the War of the Five Kings the house was led by a child, Lord Duram Bar Emmon, so that its banners followed wherever its regents and overlords pointed them ÔÇö first to Stannis, then, after the Blackwater, wherever survival lay. Small houses on great sea-lanes rarely get to choose their wars.
