A house of the Dornish marches at the grim-named castle of Kingsgrave, loyal spears of Sunspear in every war against the Reach and the crown.

The fuller tale

Kingsgrave takes its name from an old story ÔÇö a marcher king of the Reach buried where he fell trying to take it ÔÇö and the Manwoodys have held that unforgiving stretch of the Red Mountains ever since. Theirs is a hard border country, forever raided and raiding, and the house has the flinty reputation of the marcher lords who live it.

The Manwoodys rode with Prince Oberyn to the capital and stood with Dorne through the long cold war that followed the Red Viper's death, the kind of steady, unglamorous bannermen a prince counts on when the flashier houses are busy nursing grudges.
