The Sunderlys are a minor house of the small, wind-scoured island of Saltcliffe, one of the many lesser captains who make up the true strength of an ironborn fleet ÔÇö men with a longship, a crew, and a grievance, waiting for a king to point them at the green lands.

Their name surfaces among the salt wives and marriage-alliances that knit the ironborn houses together, the quiet weaving of blood that decides, as much as any axe, who will stand with whom when the horns blow for a kingsmoot.
