House Wynch holds Iron Holt on the main island of Pyke, close to the Greyjoys, and Lord Waldon Wynch is counted among the more substantial captains of the isles ÔÇö enough that his name was spoken, quietly, as a possible choice at the kingsmoot before the Crow's Eye blew his dragon horn and settled the matter his own way.

The Wynches embody the ordinary strength of the ironborn: no famous sword, no royal claim, just a hard island keep, a fleet of longships, and generations of men who have never known any trade but the sea and the sword.
