The fuller tale

The Antlers is the Buckwells' seat in the hills north of King's Landing, close enough to the capital that its lords have made a family tradition of arriving early to swear to whoever seems to be winning. The rack of antlers on their banners is older than the Baratheon stag and the house is touchy on the point, which is the most excitement the seat generally offers. Standing where it does ÔÇö between the city and the Trident's crossings ÔÇö the castle has watched most of the realm's armies march past in one direction and rather fewer march back, and has drawn from this the only lesson a small house on a great road can afford: keep the gates in good repair, the granary full, and the oaths flexible.
