The fuller tale

Faircastle rules Fair Isle, the long green island that shelters the WesterlandsÔÇÖ coast ÔÇö a Farman seat with white towers, good harbors, and a history of watching other peopleÔÇÖs wars sail past. Its waters hold the family ghost of the Greyjoy Rebellion: off Fair Isle the Iron Fleet was smashed and the krakensÔÇÖ war effectively broken, one of those engagements the lions still toast and the ironborn still owe. The Farmans themselves keep ships, keep to their island, and keep out of the songs ÔÇö on the west coast, that passes for wisdom.
