The fuller tale

Felwood sits in the green country where the kingswood's southern eaves shade into stormlands soil, a woodland seat of House Fell ÔÇö huntsmen, foresters and border knights whose lands have the mixed blessing of lying on the road between King's Landing and Storm's End. Armies moving between the two capitals of the tale's first war pass Felwood's gates going both directions, and its lords practice the roadside house's arithmetic of hospitality and hedged oaths. The books send the family's blood north with Stannis into the snows, where the house's old grudge against the Boltons ÔÇö a Fell lord killed by a Bolton's hand in an earlier age ÔÇö rides along like an heirloom. The wood abides; the fells of House Fell are mostly elsewhere, which is the stormlands way.
