The Vale's harbor city, held by House Grafton for the Arryns.

The fuller tale

Gulltown is the ValeÔÇÖs window on the sea ÔÇö its only city, a busy port under Grafton rule at the mouth of a deep harbor, where the mountain kingdom does its trading and hears its news. It is modest by the standards of Oldtown or KingÔÇÖs Landing, but the Vale likes it that way; wealth enough to matter, never enough to tempt.

The city carries two stories. In RobertÔÇÖs Rebellion it was the first battlefield ÔÇö Jon Arryn had to storm his own port when the Graftons held it for the crown, and Robert himself slew Lord Grafton in the fighting, the rebellionÔÇÖs opening invoice. And it was in GulltownÔÇÖs customs sheds that a minor lordling named Petyr Baelish, exiled from Riverrun with a scar and a grudge, multiplied a portÔÇÖs revenues so spectacularly that Jon Arryn brought him to court ÔÇö the most consequential personnel decision in the story, made over a ledger.
