The fuller tale

Haystack Hall is the most cheerfully named castle in the stormlands, seat of House Errol amid the good farmland north of Storm's End, and the name is honest labor: this is the region's grain country, hayricks to the horizon in autumn, and the Errols' banners simply admit what the family fortune is built on. The stormlands like to pretend they are all cliffs and thunder; Haystack Hall is the pantry that pretension eats from. Its lords muster with Storm's End in every war the tale runs through ÔÇö Renly's great host, then Stannis's grim remnant ÔÇö and go home, those who do, to the harvest, which unlike kings has never once failed to come back.
