Hornvale

A valley seat in the eastern hills of the West.

The fuller tale

Hornvale sits in a valley of the eastern hills for House Brax, whose purple unicorn is among the prouder banners of the middle rank of the west. The Braxes are the Lannisters’ idea of good bannermen — prompt, brave and biddable — and the war prices that virtue accordingly: a Brax lord drowns in his armor at the Battle of the Camps beneath Riverrun’s walls, and his sons carry on in Lannister service without audible complaint. Hornvale endures as such seats do, by sending its best men to other people’s stories.
