Hornvale sits in a valley of the eastern hills for House Brax, whose purple unicorn is among the prouder banners of the middle rank of the west. The Braxes are the LannistersÔÇÖ idea of good bannermen ÔÇö prompt, brave and biddable ÔÇö and the war prices that virtue accordingly: a Brax lord drowns in his armor at the Battle of the Camps beneath RiverrunÔÇÖs walls, and his sons carry on in Lannister service without audible complaint. Hornvale endures as such seats do, by sending its best men to other peopleÔÇÖs stories.
