Hornwood
A modest forest seat between the Dreadfort and White Harbor.
The fuller tale
Hornwood is a modest seat in the forests between the Dreadfort and White Harbor ÔÇö the kind of middling lordship the great game usually ignores, until its lord and heir both die in the southern war and the lands become a vacancy. What happens next is the NorthÔÇÖs first taste of Ramsay: the widowed Lady Hornwood is seized, wedded at sword-point for her claim, and left to starve in a tower cell ÔÇö found, the grimmest account insists, having chewed her own fingers. The Hornwood affair is a small horror with large meaning: it announces, years before Winterfell burns, exactly what the Bolton bastard is, and how little the law of the North can protect anyone once the Stark peace begins to crack.
The fallen of this place ÔÇö if any, they are named here. Spoilers.
No death the chronicle records has come to this ground ÔÇö or none the maesters have set down.
