The fuller tale

Lemonwood scents its stretch of the lower Greenblood ÔÇö groves of the trees that named it running down toward the river's mouth and the orphans' Planky Town, where Dorne's river folk lash their boats into a floating market. House Dalt has held the orchards since the Rhoynar came, lemons on purple flying over a house of knights rather than power; its best blade in the tale is the Knight of Lemonwood, a name that sounds like a jape until you see the man use a lance, and Dalts ride in Martell escorts and Martell plots wherever the books send the principality's trusted swords. It is Dorne at its most Rhoynish ÔÇö river, trade, orchard, and the sunniest lordship in a story that mostly grows darker fruit.
