Oros

A Valyrian city drowned and broken in the Doom.

The fuller tale

Oros was one of the great cities of the Valyrian peninsula, and it died with its civilization in a single day. When the Fourteen Flames burst, the cataclysm that shattered the Freehold broke the land itself, and Oros went down into fire and water with its towers, its wonders and whatever of its people could not outrun the sky. What remains sits on the ragged coast of the Doom-lands, drowned and broken, visited by no honest ship ÔÇö the waters around old Valyria are called the Smoking Sea, and sailors hold that men who look on that coast do not come home. Oros has no story anymore; it is part of ValyriaÔÇÖs, a proper noun in the worldÔÇÖs great cautionary tale, one of the names recited when maesters count what the Doom unmade.
