The fuller tale

Red Lake sits on the shore of its namesake water in the Reach's far northwest, where House Crane has fished, feasted and married well since the dawn ages. The family claims descent from a daughter of Garth Greenhand ÔÇö the Rose of Red Lake, who the tales say could become a crane at will, which would explain the sigil and possibly the family's gift for being elsewhere when trouble arrives. The seat watches the marches against the ironborn coast and the westerlands hills, quiet duty in quiet centuries and very much not in loud ones; the tale leaves it in peace, which by Reach standards is a compliment.
