Rosby
A small castle astride the road from Duskendale to the capital.
The fuller tale
Rosby is a small castle astride the busy road between Duskendale and King's Landing, which makes its lords wealthier than their walls suggest and their village a place travelers remember chiefly for having passed through it. In the tale its name attaches mostly to Lord Gyles, the coughing fixture of the royal court ÔÇö a man who attends every council and wedding of the era apparently on the strength of never once being a threat to anyone, and who is eventually handed the crown's treasury on roughly that qualification. The books add a dry postscript: when the cough finally wins, the question of who inherits Rosby's comfortable revenues becomes exactly the sort of small, undignified squabble the realm's great players find time for even with a winter coming ÔÇö a keep-sized reminder that in the Crownlands, proximity to power is itself an estate.
