An eastern pass-city above the Dothraki sea.

The fuller tale

Samyrian is another of the great pass-cities of the Bones, holding its gate through the mountains north of Bayasabhad ÔÇö the same Hyrkoon inheritance, the same massive walls, the same reported garrisons of women with spear and bow keeping a toll road that predates every kingdom in the story. Between the Dothraki sea and the fabled lands beyond the mountains, the pass-cities are the turnstiles of the world: silk, spice, jade and rumor come west through their gates, and the west sends back gold, wool and the occasional overconfident khalasar. The tale leaves Samyrian untouched at the edge of the map, one of the names that make the world feel wider than the war ÔÇö which, for a story fought over a single iron chair, is a useful thing to keep on the horizon.
