A walled river town on the Rhoyne, tributary to Volantis.

The fuller tale

Selhorys is a ÔÇ£townÔÇØ only by the arithmetic of Volantis, which owns it: a walled river port on the east bank of the Rhoyne, garrisoned against Dothraki raiders, its stone quays busy with the barge trade ÔÇö larger, the books note with some amusement, than most cities of Westeros, and still ranked beneath the notice of the Black Walls. It is the first place the storyÔÇÖs travelers feel the east tilting toward Daenerys: in TyrionÔÇÖs voyage downriver, a red priest preaches to rapt crowds on the riverfront that a savior queen has come to remake the world, and soldiers bound for the slave wars fill the wine sinks with rumor of dragons.

It is in Selhorys that the dwarfÔÇÖs luck turns. Slipping ashore against orders, Tyrion drinks, gambles and talks his way through a brothel ÔÇö and walks out over the shoulder of Ser Jorah Mormont, an exile hunting a pardon with a Lannister for a gift. The abduction bends both menÔÇÖs roads toward Volantis, the slavers and, eventually, the queen herself; the town goes back to its barges, unaware it has hosted a hinge of the story.
