Three Towers
Three joined towers on the Whispering Sound's southern arm.
The fuller tale
Three Towers is exactly what it says: three joined keeps on the southern arm of the Whispering Sound, watching the sea approaches to Oldtown from the far shore, held by House Costayne of the old First Man blood. The Costaynes have been kings' companions, admirals and the occasional traitor across the Reach's long history ÔÇö old enough to have married into everything and quarreled with most of it ÔÇö and their seat's business has always been the water: what comes up the Sound reaches Oldtown past Three Towers first. In quiet centuries that means fishing fleets and wine ships. The tale's late chapters, with the ironborn loose in the southern seas, make the watch suddenly current again; the towers were built for exactly the horizon their lords now scan.
The fallen of this place ÔÇö if any, they are named here. Spoilers.
No death the chronicle records has come to this ground ÔÇö or none the maesters have set down.
