Vulture's Roost
An abandoned mountain hold where outlaw 'vulture kings' once nested.
The fuller tale
The Vulture's Roost is a broken eyrie in the western Red Mountains, and its ruin is a Dornish history lesson: this was the perch of the Vulture Kings, the outlaw claimants who gathered broken men and border grudges in the high passes and bled the marches for generations between Dorne's wars. Kingsgrave and Blackmont hunted them; storm lords and Reach lords burned them out; and every burning, the marchers grumble, only scattered the seeds for the next flock. The Roost has stood empty since the last of them, a shell of dry stone on a crag that commands three valleys ÔÇö which is precisely why no one quite believes it will stay empty. In the mountains of Dorne, a ruin with a view is just a throne between claimants.
The fallen of this place ÔÇö if any, they are named here. Spoilers.
No death the chronicle records has come to this ground ÔÇö or none the maesters have set down.
