White Tree
A tiny free folk village beyond the Wall, named for the great weirwood at its heart.
The fuller tale
Whitetree is four empty hovels around one enormous weirwood ÔÇö a free folk village named for its god. The tree is the largest Jon Snow has ever seen, its carved mouth big enough to swallow a sheep, and the ashes inside it say the villagers burned their dead, which in the lands beyond the Wall is not piety but pest control. When the great ranging passes through, the village is deserted: no bodies, no signs of fight, everyone simply gone. It is the storyÔÇÖs quietest horror beat ÔÇö the North emptying itself southward ahead of something, like a beach before the wave.
The fallen of this place ÔÇö if any, they are named here. Spoilers.
No death the chronicle records has come to this ground ÔÇö or none the maesters have set down.
