Wyl
A marcher seat in the Boneway, old in border blood.
The fuller tale
Wyl clings to the Boneway where the pass narrows worst, and House Wyl has held it through every war the marches ever fed ÔÇö often as the war's most enthusiastic participant. The border ballads about the Wyls are the kind sung with the doors barred: in the old fighting against the Young Dragon's conquest, the lords of Wyl earned a name for cruelties that even Dorne, which reveres its resistance, recounts with a wince rather than a toast. Their seat's business is the pass itself ÔÇö tolls in peacetime, ambush in wartime, the Boneway's bones being partly their work ÔÇö and the tale leaves them at that ancient trade, a small house whose entire history is a narrow road and what they were willing to do on it.
