The Blacks ÔÇö Queen Rhaenyra's party
The daughter her father named heir, the lords who had sworn to her, and rather more dragons than sense.
The fuller tale
Viserys I named Rhaenyra his heir, made the lords of the realm swear to her, and then had sons by a second wife and spent the rest of his reign refusing to say which promise he meant. When he died, the blacks held Dragonstone, the Vale, the North, the riverlands and the greater part of the dragons, and crowned the queen her father had made.
Their strength was the air and their weakness was everything else: they never controlled the treasury, and King's Landing loved them only until the food ran out. Rhaenyra held the city for half a year and lost it to a riot.
Her party won the war, in the narrow sense that her son took the throne. It cost her her children, her dragons, her life and the last age of dragonkind.
