The fuller tale

Eastwatch’s harbor sees no black or green sails during the Dance — the Watch’s few ships have work enough patrolling the Shivering Sea without being drawn into a southern civil war, and no claimant thinks to ask a castle this far from the throne for help winning it. It stands through the whole business exactly as it always has, the Wall’s eastern door, indifferent to who currently sits the chair its oath forbids it to care about.
