The fuller tale

The bare, ring-walled hill north of the Wall is older than the Watch itself and utterly untouched by the century’s dynastic war — no rider, black or green, has cause to come this far, and the ancient ringfort keeps its own much longer memory of ruin, one that predates dragons by thousands of years.
