The fuller tale

Tyrosh anchors the Triarchy alongside Myr and Lys, its forked-bearded captains among the pirates and toll-takers Daemon Targaryen spends years burning off the Stepstones in the years before the Dance proper begins ÔÇö a grudge the city does not forget. When Otto Hightower comes courting Triarchy help against the Velaryon blockade of the Gullet, Tyrosh answers in force, its ships joining MyrÔÇÖs and LysÔÇÖs in the bloodiest sea battle the narrow sea has seen in living memory.

The Gullet costs Tyrosh dearly, and the accusation that Lyseni ships were spared the worst of the fighting while Tyroshi and Myrish crews were spent freely does lasting damage to the alliance ÔÇö the Triarchy that once seemed unified enough to contest a Targaryen prince for a chain of drowned rocks does not long survive the peace that follows the Dance it helped decide.
