The Mystery Knight — Dunk VII
The dragon's egg vanishes from Lord Butterwell's bedchamber in the night. The drawbridge comes up, the castle is sealed — and Ser Glendon Ball, whose father shattered the red dragon's van at Redgrass, is seized for the theft on no evidence but his blood.
The chapter retold
The dragon's egg vanishes from Lord Butterwell's bedchamber in the night, the drawbridge comes up, and the castle seals itself with its treason still inside. The chapter shows the age's rot plainly in who gets blamed: Ser Glendon Ball, seized on no evidence but his blood, because his father Fireball shattered the red dragon's van at Redgrass and a Blackfyre man's son is guilt enough for a nervous hall. Dunk, watching an innocent man condemned for his parentage, finds the injustice he cannot walk past — the same reflex that once knocked a prince into the dirt at Ashford.
