Bitterbridge
Seat of House Caswell
Where the roseroad crosses the Mander over an ancient stone bridge.
The fuller tale
Bitterbridge takes its name from the ancient stone span carrying the roseroad across the Mander, seat of the minor House Caswell, whose chief historical function has always been keeping that bridge in good repair for grander lords passing through on business more important than anything happening in Bitterbridge itself. In Dunk and Egg's era the bridge sees the ordinary traffic of a kingdom at peace ÔÇö merchants, pilgrims, the occasional lord's retinue ÔÇö rather than the armies and camp-followers it will host in ages the tales don't reach.
The fallen of this place ÔÇö if any, they are named here. Spoilers.
No death the chronicle records has come to this ground ÔÇö or none the maesters have set down.
