Blackhaven is a marcher seat of black basalt on the Dornish border, home to House Dondarrion and their purple lightning bolt, a house whose whole character is shaped by centuries spent as the first line against Dornish raids before Daeron II’s marriage finally bought a real peace. Ser Manfred Dondarrion is among the lords who take Ser Duncan the Tall into service at Ashford Meadow — a practical gesture of goodwill that stops well short of vouching for him when Dunk’s honor is later put to the test, which tells its own quiet story about how far marcher caution extends even toward a knight a lord has just hired.
