Evenfall Hall crowns the Sapphire Isle of Tarth, reputed by sailors and songs alike to be the loveliest island anywhere in the narrow sea — blue waters, green hills, and a castle that has the luxury, unlike most stormlands seats, of looking out on scenery rather than a border. House Tarth holds it quietly in this era, a minor lordship whose chief business with the wider realm is supplying the narrow sea’s shipping lanes with safe anchorage rather than supplying the tourney field with champions; Evenfall Hall’s claim to fame in Dunk and Egg’s age is simply that it is, by universal agreement, a very pleasant place to be forgotten by history for a while.
