Gulltown is the ValeÔÇÖs working harbor, a trading city held for the Arryns by House Grafton, whose fortunes rise and fall with shipping tolls and salt-fish prices rather than with the mountain politics that occupy the Eyrie above. It is, in effect, the ValeÔÇÖs door to the wider realm ÔÇö the Eyrie handles the ValeÔÇÖs pride, Gulltown handles its commerce ÔÇö and in an era when the crownÔÇÖs peace has made travel and trade unusually safe, that door does brisker business than it has in a generation.
