The fuller tale

Old Oak is an ancient seat on the sea road north of Highgarden, home to House Oakheart, a family whose sons have traditionally gravitated toward the Kingsguard's white cloak more often than most ÔÇö a tradition already well established by Dunk and Egg's era, and one the house wears as a point of quiet pride rather than mere coincidence. The castle itself, old even by Reach standards, does its work mostly unremarked: guarding a stretch of coast that has generally had the good sense not to need much guarding.
