⚔️ THE IRON LADDER
One player, one life, and it ends. This is the single-player realm: it runs entirely in this browser, needs no account, and nothing is sent anywhere. Your character has one life — when they die, the chronicle is written and you start a new one. The shared realm (other players, chat, wars between real people) needs a server and is not built yet.

The Iron Ladder

Everyone starts somewhere. Almost nobody starts at the top.

    Your name

What they will call you in the songs, or in the ledgers, or not at all.

    Which kingdom

The world is not one country and never has been. Where you open your eyes decides what you eat, who you owe, and what everyone assumes about you before you have said anything. Essos is on this list too, and it is a different game.

    Westeros
    Across the narrow sea

    And where in it

A castle, a city, a village on a cold shore. The place decides which of the world's scenes can find you at all — a harbour brings ships and smugglers, a court brings lords, a mining village brings neither.

    What you were born

The single biggest choice on this page. It is not a difficulty setting — a nobody has no standing and no leash, and both of those are worth something.

    Your trade

What you do on a day when nothing is happening. Every trade earns, every trade adds to what you are good at, and each one opens a different set of doors later.

    What you are like

Choose three. Each adds to an attribute and unlocks choices in the world that nobody else is offered.

    What you are after

This forbids nothing. It leans the world toward you — and at the end, it is what the chronicle measures your life against.

    Your character

Read it once more. You can change any of it until you take the first step — and after that, you cannot change any of it at all.

    Begin by choosing a name.
