The fuller tale

House Tallhart holds Torrhen's Square west of Winterfell, and its masters ÔÇö they claim the humbler style of master rather than lord ÔÇö are steady, unglamorous bannermen of the Starks, the kind of house on which the North's real strength rests. Their sigil is three sentinel trees on grey.

The war unmade them. Ser Helman Tallhart marched south with Robb Stark; his brother Leobald and the household left behind were caught up in the ironborn seizure of the North and the Bolton treacheries that followed, and the house was gutted almost to extinction ÔÇö one more proud northern name that answered its liege's call and paid for it with nearly everything.
