Acorn Hall
A snug forest keep in the foothills south of the Trident.
The fuller tale
Acorn Hall is a snug keep in the oak woods south of the Trident, seat of House Smallwood ÔÇö small in name, smaller in lands, and rich in exactly one scene the booksÔÇÖ readers never forget. The Brotherhood without Banners shelters there with a captive Arya Stark, and Lady Smallwood, whose own daughter is away, does the unthinkable: she scrubs the wolf-child clean and puts her in a dress embroidered with acorns. Arya being Arya, the dress does not survive the evening ÔÇö but the interlude, with Tom oÔÇÖ Sevens singing in the hall and a lady being kind for no strategic reason at all, is the warÔÇÖs one afternoon of ordinary gentleness. The story includes Acorn Hall to show what all the other pages are burning.
The chronicle here
- At Acorn Hall Lady Smallwood puts Arya in a dress with acorns on it; Tom's songs and Gendry's forge make the war feel briefly far away. (ASOS 23)
