Sharako Lohar

Admiral of the Triarchy's combined fleets at the Stepstones — a commander of ninety warships and singular habits, courted by the greens to break the Sea Snake's blockade.

The fuller tale

Admiral of the Triarchy's combined fleets at the Stepstones, Sharako Lohar commands some ninety warships and a set of personal habits the show takes evident relish in making memorable — a Lysene naval officer whose competence and eccentricity are, in roughly equal measure, the reason both the greens and the Sea Snake's blockade have to take him seriously.

Courted by the greens specifically for his fleet's ability to break Corlys Velaryon's stranglehold on the narrow sea's shipping lanes, Sharako represents the war's Essos-facing dimension — a reminder that the Dance, however Westerosi its causes, is fought partly with foreign ships and foreign admirals whose loyalty is available to the highest or most persuasive bidder.

The page and the screen

Sharako Lohar is a show-original figure with no direct named counterpart in Fire & Blood's account of the Triarchy's naval forces at the Stepstones, one of several places where the series has invented a specific personality to dramatize a role the book treats more generically as 'the Triarchy's fleet.'

Where they stand, season by season

S2·E8 — The Stepstones
Their fate — if death has found them, it is written here. Open at your peril.

The chronicle records no death for this soul — they are living when the tale leaves them, or their ending is a page the maesters have yet to turn.
