Jason's twin and, by wide agreement, the sharper of the two — where Jason leads with gallantry and self-assurance, Tyland leads with ledgers, becoming master of ships and later master of coin in a series of appointments that put him considerably closer to the war's actual machinery than his brother's more glamorous field command ever gets him.

His most consequential contribution to the greens' cause is quiet and unglamorous in exactly the way that suits him: he quietly divides and secures the crown's gold across multiple locations, ensuring that no single claimant, however successful a raid or a siege, can simply seize the entire treasury and end the war's financial dimension in one stroke.
