House Blackwood
Old-gods riverlords of Raventree Hall, nine hundred years at feud with the Brackens across the stream — early and eager swords for the black queen.
The fuller tale
Raventree Hall keeps the old gods in a riverlands that converted to the Seven generations ago, and the Blackwoods have spent nine hundred years treating that difference as a matter of pride rather than eccentricity — a house that never stopped being what the rest of the Trident used to be, feuding the entire time with the Andal-converted Brackens across the stream from them.
When Daemon Targaryen comes to the riverlands looking for allies, Willem Blackwood does not need much persuading — declaring for the Blacks under the old gods’ banner is both a genuine political calculation and, more immediately satisfying, a chance to fight the Brackens with a crown’s authority behind him rather than merely a neighbor’s grudge.
The house’s war, in practice, is fought as much across the stream that divides Raventree from Stone Hedge as it is against any green army proper — a national civil war providing cover and legitimacy for a much older, much more local one that neither family particularly wants to let go of, crown or no crown.
