The fuller tale

HighgardenÔÇÖs own Lord Tyrell is a child when the Dance begins, which leaves the ReachÔÇÖs enormous strength effectively borrowed rather than commanded ÔÇö it is Lord Ormund Hightower, kin to the green queen dowager and acting in the young TyrellÔÇÖs name, who raises the regionÔÇÖs great host and marches it toward the war rather than the garden castleÔÇÖs own lord. Highgarden itself, the largest reservoir of manpower in Westeros, ends up fighting the Dance almost entirely by proxy: its bannermenÔÇÖs spears leave for Bitterbridge and Tumbleton while the castle of white towers and climbing roses stays home, a throne of plenty run by a regency while the war it is bankrolling is fought and lost hundreds of miles away.
