A castle of white towers and climbing roses above the Mander, heart of the garden of Westeros.

The fuller tale

Highgarden’s own Lord Tyrell is a child when the Dance begins, which leaves the Reach’s enormous strength effectively borrowed rather than commanded — it is Lord Ormund Hightower, kin to the green queen dowager and acting in the young Tyrell’s name, who raises the region’s great host and marches it toward the war rather than the garden castle’s own lord. Highgarden itself, the largest reservoir of manpower in Westeros, ends up fighting the Dance almost entirely by proxy: its bannermen’s spears leave for Bitterbridge and Tumbleton while the castle of white towers and climbing roses stays home, a throne of plenty run by a regency while the war it is bankrolling is fought and lost hundreds of miles away.

In the first season

Unvisited this season, but its favorite son Ser Loras — the Knight of Flowers — unhorses the Mountain at the Hand's tourney.
