The Eyrie

Seat of House Arryn

A castle of white stone atop the Giant's Lance, reached by a goat path and defended by the sky itself.

The fuller tale

The Eyrie’s Lady Jeyne Arryn — remembered afterward as the Good Queen never crowned or, less kindly, simply ‘the Black Bride’ — is one of Rhaenyra’s earliest and steadiest supporters, a woman who rules the Vale in her own right and never much doubts that a woman can rule Westeros too. Her loyalty is more than sentiment: Vale ships and Vale silver back the black cause from the war’s opening days, and the Eyrie’s unassailable height means that whatever happens in the lowlands, no green army is ever climbing the mountain to argue with her about it.

In the first season

Lysa Arryn nurses her son and her grievances here. Tyrion beats the sky cells with his tongue: a trial by combat, and Bronn's sword.
