A grizzled, one-eyed knight of the Reach, Ser Robyn Rhysling wears the loss of an eye to a splintered lance the way other men wear a badge of honor — a permanent reminder of the tourney’s real dangers, worn without complaint by a man who never seems to have missed the eye particularly.
When the trial of seven leaves Dunk short of champions and every landed knight on the meadow suddenly discovers pressing business elsewhere, Robyn Rhysling is among the handful who step forward anyway — proof that the trial draws at least a few men of genuine conviction rather than only glory-seekers, and that a scarred veteran’s sense of what is owed to justice can outweigh whatever caution his experience might otherwise counsel.
