What is dead may never die, the drowned priest intones, and Theon Greyjoy rises from the water baptized into a family that does not want him. The episode hands him the seasonÔÇÖs cruelest choice with total clarity: a letter to Robb would save the brother he grew up with and damn the father he just recovered. He holds it over a candle and watches his old life burn ÔÇö a small, quiet, entirely self-inflicted catastrophe, and the showÔÇÖs most patient tragedy begins in earnest. On Pyke they pay the iron price; Theon pays in the only currency he has, which is other peopleÔÇÖs trust.
The other threads sharpen by contrast. In the capital, Tyrion runs a leak-detection sting worthy of a spymaster: three marriage rumors, three councillors, three different brides, and PycelleÔÇÖs beard pays for the betrayal. And on the kingsroad, Yoren dies as he lived ÔÇö refusing to hand anyone over ÔÇö while the survivors of his recruit column, Arya among them, are dragged toward Harrenhal in chains. The old protections are burning off the story one by one.
