Asha I At Ten Towers Asha musters her uncles and captains for the kingsmoot: a woman's claim to the Seastone Chair, argued with wit, salt, and an axe. Victarion I The Iron Captain comes to Old Wyk among longships beyond counting; the captains weigh Asha's wit against Victarion's iron ÔÇö until a sail with a red eye appears. Aeron II The kingsmoot on Nagga's hill: Asha offers peace, Victarion strength ÔÇö and Euron Crow's Eye offers dragons, with a hellhorn from the smoking ruins of Valyria. The ironmen choose madness.

Asha I At Deepwood Motte the kraken's daughter reads letters from a broken home ÔÇö then Stannis's host comes out of the trees, and Asha Greyjoy is the king's prize. Asha II The King's Prize: Stannis's march on Winterfell drowns in snow three days out of Deepwood; horses die, men freeze, and the northern clans mutter of the Night's King. Asha III At a crofters' village three days from Winterfell, Stannis's starving host burns its cannibals; out of the storm come a broken man and a girl in a dead girl's name ÔÇö Theon and Jeyne.

Where the page and the screen part

AshaÔÇÖs book road and YaraÔÇÖs show road part ways almost completely after the kingsmoot. The books send her not to Daenerys but into Stannis BaratheonÔÇÖs hands at Deepwood Motte, then on the death-march toward Winterfell as prisoner and point-of-view ÔÇö snowbound chapters the show never adapted, including her forced proxy marriage and her reunion with the ruin of Theon in the enemy camp. The showÔÇÖs counterpart storylines ÔÇö the Targaryen pact, EuronÔÇÖs prow, the brotherÔÇÖs rescue ÔÇö have no book equivalent at all. She is also, in the books, half a Harlaw: her motherÔÇÖs kin at Ten Towers, above all her uncle Rodrik the Reader and his famous library, give her a hinterland of allies and irony the screen never had time to visit.
